hi,
does anyone have any experience repairing this sub? i have one that got fried by a surge. the fuses were blown when i opened it so i replaced them only to have them blow again. so i looked around and found 5 IC's cracked and charred part #'s SEC 1RF640 and FEP16GT 9904. i found replacement IC's part #' s NTE2374 and NTE6241....im just wondering if anyone knows if replacing those IC's will fix the sub or is there another part that caused them to fry that i should be looking at/for. the rest of the board looks fine.
any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Sam

Is the woofer still ok? I think you can check by GENTLY pushing in on it.
If it moves in a little is should be ok, If it is stiff, the voice coil may be fried.

the sub is fine. its actually disconnected from the board right now. i replaced those IC's today, plugged it in and POW the fuses blew and the circuit breaker tripped. that so sucks, i really thought (hoped) that that was going to fix it. im at a loss as to what could be the problem now.
i did leave 3 of the 8 original chips there (they looked ok) maybe ill try replacing those too.
