I moved two stereo speakers that were next to the television. I turned off the television and unplugged it for sixty seconds and plugged it back in. The TV still has the problem. I am afraid to ask what an “Authorized Samsung Technician” would want to fix it. As I said below, this television has been trouble-free until now.
Thank you.

You may want to check your surrounding electronics with magnets such as speakers etc, if you have speaker/s surrounding your Tv remove them then power off and unplug your TV for 30 -60 seconds then plug it back in. If you’re still getting a yellow haze it will require a diagnosis by an Authorized Samsung Technician. Please contact our Customer Care Center 1-800-726-7864, have your model# and Serial# available upon request.
Sincerely Samsung
This is a CRT 27” television.

This TV was purchased in June 1993.
Model number: TC2770S

It has worked fine until recently. Shortly after it is turned on, the picture will turn completely yellow. It will stay that way for several minutes then return to normal.

1. Was something damaged inside the television when we moved?
2. Does the satellite receiver cause this?
3. Is the television just getting old?

We moved recently. For about a week, the television was unplugged with no components connected to it. About two weeks later we had a satellite receiver hooked up to it.

For about five to ten minutes after it is turned on, the picture will turn completely yellow. It never did this before. It started doing it roughly ten days after we had the satellite receiver connected to it. It does this whether it is on Channel 3 (satellite receiver), VIDEO 1 (VCR) or S-video (DVD player).

Over all, we have been very pleased with this television.

Thank you.

I have had this problem when moving my main speakers too close to my old tv. But this only involved the corners with the "rainbow" effect and usually went away after a day or two of normal on/off/on operation (degausing). If the entire pictures turns yellow for a few minutes and then back to normal, you are loosing the BLUE color entirely for that moment. The move could have aggrevated a cold/broken solder joint. Does this only happen shortly after power on or does it also happen after the set has been on for hours? Does tapping on the set make the screen turn yellow?

If your entire pictures is yellow and it is a coming and going problem then the speakers are not the likely cause. There are several things that could cause this none of which are fixable by an untrained person.

I tend to think something inside was damaged during the move and the problem is very simple.

The picture turns yellow only after it has been on for a couple of minutes. It stays all yellow for anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour. It usually goes away after ten minutes.

I haven’t tried tapping on the screen. I do not touch it at all when I watch it.

Right now, I just turned it on and watched it for about twenty minutes. So far, the picture has not turned yellow. It looks fine. This gives me the feeling the problem will go away if I hire somebody to look at it.

I’ll see if the TV does it tomorrow.
