I was attempting to hang some bathroom cabinets approx 40lbs to what I assumed was drywall. After a number of failed attempts I think the walls are actually plaster. Are there special wall anchors to be used in plaster walls vs sheetrock? The regular plastic anchors did not seem to be very secure.

Thanks for your help.

The very best way is to find the studs and screw into them. If not then a molly bolt will be good. Also called a butterfly.

Around here we call them toggle bolts.
