Hi guys,

I have a deadbolt lock on my inside garage door that is loose in an odd way that I've never seen before.

Sometimes when you unlock and open the door from the inside (its never locked by key from outside) then go to close the door the bolt will extend just from swinging the door closed. It seems secure enough when locked but its a pain when it does this.

I don't know the manufacturer, no name on lock but it has an indent on the end of the deadbolt, looks like it has some sort of insert in the bolt itself.

Thanks for any ideas.

Sounds like the bolt is toast. If it was a named manufacturer you could possibly purchase a new bolt.

With a generic, you are usually better off buying a complete lock that matches your keyway. Many places charge a nominal fee to rekey your purchase to your existing key.

That's what I thought. Thanks!
