I have a 5000 btu window air conditioner that i put in a window during the summer in an RV, problem is, there is no drainage hole and the water seems to stay in the bottom, is there a part i can buy to install allowing it to drain, or should a hole just be drilled? Thanks

Most window units have a slinger ring on the condenser fan that slings water on the condenser to help it cool.

To ad to jhigs comment as long as it's not dripping into the inside don't sweat it.

My window A/C unit has the slinger ring, but started spitting water all of a sudden yesterday. Hubby took the unit out and dumped the water out of it, but after about 10 mins or so it started spitting again. There is a hole on the back(that had a plastic plug), and some water drained out when it was removed, but there is still water built up in the front of the unit. The unit is tilted back, so that's not the problem. Is there another drainage hole near the front of the unit that could be clogged? Are the condenser coils supposed to be cold/sometimes icy(sorry, I'm clueless when it comes to a/c units)?

Thanks,

Nikki

You mean the water is spitting inside? Also you mention about ice, you mean ice on the coil inside(evepator) or outside(condensor)?

If it is inside, it can mean a few things.
-Coil dirty
-low on charge
-running it at a low temp
-outdoors temp is too cold

There should be a channel for water to drain from inside to outside, and that may be plugged.
