I have a Sony surround sound system and just got digital cable. I've hooked the audio cables to the output on the TV and input to Video on the receiver, but the receiver does not play any sound through the speakers. After I turn on the receiver the screen flashes "LOCK" for about 10 seconds then it goes to "VIDEO" but nothing plays. I can't find anything in the manual about LOCK.

Is there something on the digital cable box that is preventing the receiver from working? It worked fine when I used to run cable through my VCR. :wall:

I've never seen the lock before either but I'm alittle confused on how you have it hooked up. If you have digital cable then you should have your composite video or s-video going from the outout on the box to the input on the TV. The audio cable(s) should run from output on digital box to cbl/sat on sony receiver. If your sony receiver has a digital coax input I would use that from digital box to audio receiver. That way your TV handles the video and your receiver handles the audio.

I'm confused too. You have the audio from the tv (red/white) going into the video (yellow) on the sony?
It doesn't have anything to do with the cable box.
You are probably overloading the inputs on the sony. The audio output from the tv is probably amplified. You don't want an amplified signal going to the receiver. Connect the audio directly from the cable box to the receiver.
