I have chimmney that's partially hidden by the current mantle. The new nicer mantle is about 5 inches narrower than the older one.
Problem is, the older one just barely fits around the brick facing. I need to take out about 2.5" out of either side the new mantle will fit.
I already thought about using a chisel, but thought that would loosen everything that's on there. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Joe
