Is there an advantage of using an oil based primer such as Gardz rather than water based stain kill over newly patched plaster and lathe walls? I have filled small holes and cracks with Durabond 90 now need to prime to see the results and do final spot patches.

Thanks Much

No advatage unless it's in a high moisture area. Just fyi, Gardz isn't a primer for paint. Use a good latex primer.

Personally I wouldn't use a stain hiding primer unless needed. Regular latex wall primer should be sufficent.
