hi!
I have a peerless boiler about 10 years old. On my 1st floor I drop the heat to 55 during the day and at night. In the evening i have the temp rise to 70. Yesterday when the temp was 28 it took 5 hours to get to 70. Do i have a problem. P.S i have a 12/20 foot unheated room that has a 30000 btu gas fireplace. Yesterday i had it on for about 1 hour but not much help was created. Thanks for any replies, mike

An hour isn't long. Is this house insulated?
Perhaps there is too little circulation.
How hot are the radiators (or is it in-floor heat)?
How many radiators are there?
How did it work in past years?

The radiators are very hot as hot as usuall. We recently replaced the circulator and we have 7 radiators in a 1200 sq foot area. As far as past years, it has heated fine two hours topps to heat the same amount, and those days were about 15 degrees outside. The house is well insulated too. Today it is at 65 and has five more degrees to climb. It has ran for 2 and 1/2 hrs so far. Maybe I should keep it hgher during the day maybe 60. Also, if it is just taking this long to heat up is it ok for the circulator/heater in general to run long like this.

With hot water heat, I don't suggest set back thermostats. It does take a long time to recover.
