Hi,

I have a Carrier gas pack heat and AC unit. I can not read the model number, it starts with 48. The flame on the gas heater lights and burns fine. In the last several days it has started to smell some in the house. I looked at the unit and the only thing I see that is different is that the flame coming out of the nozzles can hardly be seen, it seems that it's too hot. I can hardly see it but it is burning real good, seems to be too good. I feel it my be getting too much gas to the nozzles and not being completly burned.

My question is what should my flame look like? I thought it should be blulish with some red in it. If it needs adjusting, how/where do I adjust it.

Thank you
Grover

I cannot read the model number
Approximate age? Are you seeing the flame through a view port (window) or directly looking at it?

Natural gas from a public utility?

How do I adjust the flame? There's a screw on the gas valve inside the unit that looks as if it maybe the adjustment.

DO NOT ADJ the flame with out a guage to read the inches water collume.

You would be best to call a Pro or gas company to take a reading.

Other wise, over fire will be waste of gas=higher gas bill and/or burn out your heat exchanger.
