Looking to insulate my garage door with either the foil insulation or the styrofoam stuff. Any input experiences on brands, install, where to buy, etc.

thanks, charlie

here's what I did - http://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/582524.phtml
Not sure about the overall efficiency, we have a pretty mild winter here in VA

I did mine last summer with styrofoam, 1 1/2" thick, and it's really made a huge difference. It was well worth the effort.

Most codes and common sense say you should cover any exposed styrofoam in a garage for fire reasons. Sheet rock works, but it is heavy.

Fire protecting? That sounds expensive.

Are you trying to make the garage into a comfortable work area? Or do you have cold rooms around the garage? If it's a cold rooms issue, it might be cheaper to just improve on the walls around the garage.

If you are trying to make the garage into a comfortable work area, you might find out that things get pretty expensive pretty quick.
