Please give all your suggestions !
We just bought a 1950 house and we've decided to refinish the wood floors using BasicCoatings products thinking we could avoid sanding and all the mess that comes with it.
One of the bedrooms has an old white stain applied and we'd like, if possible, to restore the original light natural finish as the rest of the wood floors in the house. After some research on this forum and other sources we choose:
Basic Coatings - "Squeaky" Floor Cleaner (1-gal)
Basic Coatings - IFT (1-gal)
Basic Coatings - TyKote (?-gal)
Basic Coatings - StreetShoe XL (?-gal)
This will be a little pricey but we think it's all worth it if everything comes up right.
Please advise if we need to use Basic Coatings Woodtone Stain or Basic Coatings Amberizer in order to change the color of the old "white" floor (in the bedroom) or the Tykote will restore the natural color?
Beside of what we picked above, do we need any additional Catalyzed Sealer?
Do you suggest using the Basic Coatings - Emulsion instead of the StreetShoe XL?
How much TyKote and StreetShoe XL do we need for about 500-600 sqft, 2 coats each?
Thanks for your input,
