Hi there: I have an 11 year old Keeprite gas furnace. Is it normal for the electronic ignition to cycle on and off? The furnace maintains the desired temperature and everything, but I have just noticed that the ignition was cycling. It will lite and stay on for approx. 50secs. then go out. Then 5-7 secs later it will lite again. Just wondering if the cycling action is going to damage the eletronic ignition?
Thank you for any response.
Randy.

This doing this when it trying to heat the house, or does it when there is no call of heat?
This should only cycle when there is call of heat. On some older system. they have standing pilot at all times. and it will use this system to relight the pilot if it went out.

This sounds wrong to me. By "lite" do you mean glow?
Yes, this will burn out the ignitor (plus it wastes a lot of electricity).
