I have been looking at different Mfgs. router bits (carbide edges).
My ? is. Is there any difference in the carbide edges? The prices seem to be different depending on the Mfg. If I bought a set (lets say) $10.00 difference. would I get the same quality?

Most lower cost bits are ok for low usage, homeowner stuff. Not for production shops. Like in just about anything else, you get what you pay for. The strength of the bond of the tips to the body and shank, as well as the quality of the body and shank itself, may not stand up to the quality standards of the higher end manufacturers.

Never happened to me, but I've heard stories of carbide tips flying off of the body of a bit. Or a supposedly hardened steel shank failing. At the RPM's that they turn, that could be a disaster. It's just doesn't pay to be chincy when it comes to safety.

I have a number of bits purchased from www.pricecutter.com that have been giving me very good service at a reasonable price.
