Ok, the last question - I think before I lay my floor this weekend...
I have an extension that has a 17 foot opening to my existing living room. The living room has 2.25 inch oak flooring. I am going to put 2.25 inch oak down in the extension also, running the same direction.
The oak I bought is similar to what is in my living room in terms of color. Of course, not exact - thats probably not possible - but they are both red oak with an oil based poly . Just one is 50 years old and on is new.
Also, the finishing job on my existing floor is just so-so (I did it 7 years ago. It could have been sanded better and finer). The new floor is prefinished.
So, all in all, they are different... but similar.
My rooms are square and the subfloors are level so I could just continue my new floor (both tongue and groove). Or should I use a T molding?
At this point it is only cosmetic because everything lines up fine. Im not sure if the difference in shading/smoothness of the floors warrants a transition or not. I like the idea of just continuing but what will look better?
Any opinions out there?
