I would like to get some advice on replacing carpet with wood tread and risers on a curved stairway (which is adjoining a wall on one side; the other side has railing):

1. Since the treads are not uniform width (wider toward the wall), it would be difficult to use strip/plank floors. I should go with solid wood tread, right?

2. I am thinking red oak for tread and poplar for riser (tread will be stain/poly'd while the riser will be painted white). Is this an ok choice of wood? What's the best place to get the solid treads?

Thanks,
