What's involved in doing a system cleaning? I have been trying to get my system serviced since the fall and the guy who installed it and serviced it over the years is too busy to return calls.

I have a System 2000 Oil burner with base board hot water. With the price of oil I just want to make sure it is running the most efficient it can. I have seen him do a few things in the past, but not everything.

I can: Change the jet/nozzle, change the two filters (1 at Tank, other at furnace), I can shop vac out the baffles etc.

I am not sure on how to adjust the air vent that controls the burner. What do you look for when doing that? Whats optimum

Also is there anything else to clean or adjust?

Thanks Jim

Who installed it? Your oil company or some other company?

I'd call around to diffrent dealer or oil company to get a good oil tech...

The air/flame set up requires a testing kit to do the job, not a DIY thing or "eyeballing" type thing.

By all means DO NOT try to adjust the air on your boiler. You cannot see the flame on a System 2000. To clean the boiler, you need to remove the back & brush & vaccuum the heat exchanger. Be very careful not to disturb the combustion chamber or the "foot" supporting it. It really would be best to have a pro familiar with this piece of equipment do the service. Even relatively small misadjustments can cause rapid & severe sooting.
