Neighbor has a Whirlpool Quiet Partner II dishwasher that quit operating. Looked at it and found a wire burnoff near the circiut board in the door. The wire burnt off at a splice. Repair the wire and dishwasher appeared to operate fine. The next day it was discovered that at the end of the cycle, the water had not drained out. I looked at it again, pressed Cancel/drain button, dishwasher drained fine. Ran a rinse cycle and again the water did not drain. Tried Cancel/drain and it did not work-- no motor noise, only thing that happen was the light on the panel was lit. After about 30-40 minutes, tried Cancel/drain and it drained again. The motor is hot to the touch after the cycle runs. Is it possible that the motor is bad? Quits because it is hot??

Yes it is possible... the motor has a thermal fuse in it that opens when too hot and as cools closes back....
