has anyone had experience with using stain on MDF? I just got a set of dressers that are MDF and Maple, I'm going to stain the maple, but can MDF be stained? any recomendations? :thumbdn: :thumbup:

I've never tried it personally, but I'm thinking that you would not get a good result from trying to stain it. MDF has a very large glue content - used to adhere all the small wood particles together. Stain does not take to glue.

You may be able to try a gel stain on it, which is more of a stain that sits on top of the surface, rather than penetrating into it.
