This dryer is not like the one I replaced! I don't want to damage the finish!

It's a Maytag Legacy model #SDE305DAYW.

Doe the front panel open? Can't get top to "pop up"!

I looked your model # up & it looks like the bottom front panel of your dryer comes off. Push down on top of panel & pull top out. The bottom should lift off the 2 tabs on the bottom. Heating element should be accessable once panel is removed. Dave
