I have read a lot of the posts on Basements, and am now thoroughly confused. So many smart people with so much to say, but it is so confusing.
I am having a contractor finish my walk-out basement. He has used 2X4 steel studs and is ready now to insulate the walls AND the basement ceiling. Is there a special type of insulation he should be using (Central Kentucky)? Does he need a moisture and/or vapor barrier? Should he put insulation in the ceiling or not? Reading the problems and the conflicting opinions makes me concerned about things I didn't even consider before? Can anyone advise me on how to discuss these issues with my contractor, what I need to check with him etc.? I would really appreciate some guidance here. Thanks everyone, in advance. :)
I have a typical, damp but not wet basement, with B-Dry.
