My daughter recently moved and was given a dryer by a friend that no longer could use it.(She had no hook-ups or some such thing.)At any rate the dryer does not run, only hums and you have top hold the start switch in manually to get it to do that.On trying tonite to see what the problem may be,I see on the nameplate that it is a 120 /240 volt dryer. It has a 240 volt cord wired, but now Iam thinking that maybe someone wired it in without knowing for sure.Mt question is how do I tell what voltage it is supposed to run on?It is model LEA10AW Serial #59708046850 Manufacturer model#PLEA10AW.I am going to try to get a repair book at the library in the morning to see how to get the panels off and troubleshoot unit and doubt if they have any Amana specific books available.I ma not sure but are maytag the same thing?Thank you for any insight into this problem.I appreciate it, and so does my daughter.

Gas dryer 120v / Electric 220 .. back where wires hook up should be left to right (black)-(white)-(red)... can you rotate drum by hand.. and if so sounds like a bad motor...
