We have a 7x6 bathroom being reno'd. The drywall and tub are in. I have peeled up the lino and sub floor. I have 2x8 joists, 12 inches apart covered by what appears to be tongue & grooved half inch boards running diagonal over the joists. OK. My questions is..... I would like to soundproof the floor and lay a new sub floor to get ready for tile and need to know what type of wood to use for the floor? What do I use for soundproofing? Do I use wood screws or nails? And any other info or suggesting that might be helpful.

Thanks All.

You might want to do an internet search for soundproofing products for floors. There is a vinyl foam barrier product that can be placed between joists in floor. Then, you install a plywood subfloor. If installing ceramic tile, you will need to install concrete underlayment board over the subfloor before installing tile. You can post questions in the Ceramic Tile forum where experts can assist you will installing concrete underlayment board and ceramic tile.
