Kitchen Large Electric Appliances - Maytag Dryer model PYE2000AYW need help

Maytag Performa Heavy Duty Quiet Series....not quiet at all...problems! When i turn it on it makes tons of noise...thuds, etc. sounds like it turning slow at first then faster with more and more noise, sounds like the tub (whatever) is bouncing around, then if it gets quieter at all and seems to be spinning along for a while it will start making that loud noise again about every 2 or 3 turns...like it is revvving up and having a real hard time turning itself. Where do i start? I have read posts about belts, etc... any advice...what can i check and maybe replace, or at least see is broken myself before i call someone??? Daughter in college, would like to get another year or two out of it please.

UN PLUG .. Take a putty knife.. in front between top and front panel there are clips 1 1/2 from corners to the center.. push in putty knife and lift top to access screws that hold front on... remove front.. check blower wheel for wear and rear drum rollers... these are the most common noise makers...:coffee:
