I have a whirlpool referigerator that I bought replacement door seals for, the company I got them from Parts Select has no clue as to what glue or adhesive I would use, someone suggested that they slip over a joint or something, but it looks to me like they are glued on..help

whirlpool model ED25TQXGW00 if that matters

also any tips as to installing these things, I only have 1 of the 2 I ordered so I have a few days to figure this out...Mark

EDIT... I really have no clue how to change this, after I posted it looks as if the plastic inner door part covers part of the seal....I really need some advice

thanks

No glue. They are 'fitted' onto the door. Study the design, the seals lips, etc till you figure it out.

Pull out on your old gasket on fridge & look behind the lip of the gasket. Most are held on by screws going all the way around door. I found the best way to install a new gasket is to take the door off its hinges & lay flat on the floor.
Once installed, if gasket isn't sealing right at places, use a hairdryer to warm the area & help gasket form a better seal. Dave

ok when the ship the gasket they are rolled and folded in the box take them out and put them in your bathtub run hot water then you have no use for a hair dryer to warm them to make them fit and you wont be standing there all day to get them to fit right.. and yes they are held on with 1/4 inch screws but be careful not to strip the holes out when you replace the gasket

I dont know how or why but I cant post pics here, but can e-mail to anyone that offers to help, there are no screws anywhere I pulled out on old gasket, it seems as if it glued to the back of the white plastic inner part of the door, a little but of what looks like insulation ( actually like spray foam ( great stuff )) is behind the white plactic pannel...e-mail me direct and I can send pics Rentprop1@tampabay.rr.com ...thanks

I looked your model # up. There has to be screws holding the gasket in place.
Try moving furthur down or up behind gasket. It might be that the spot you looked at wasn't near a screw. On the pic I saw, it looked like approx. 10 screws going down each side of door & 4 across the top & bottom. Are you pulling the gasket out to look for screws on the outside or inside of gasket?
The screws are behind the magnetic part of the gasket on the inside when you open the door. Dave

Dave,
u send me an e-mail and I will send u a pic, no screws, I looked up model # as well even called Whirlpool got some kid at the answer center, no help, that model has been made for last 11 yrs, it might be possible they changed something.....
I have lifted the gasket complete off , pulled about 10 inches or more completely away from fridge, that where I got the glued ( foam ) stuck to the inner part of gasket
