I have a Whirlpool washer LSR8233JQ1 that has a burning smell that is released after the spin cycle. I ran a super wash with no clothes on hot water and smelled nothing when finshed. Ran a load with clothes on cold and after the spin cycle, the burning smell returned.

About the only thing that can give you that smell would be a motor starting to overheat with a load...
