I've got a Kenmore Portable (that was converted to under the counter) dishwasher. Model 665.17735791 Serial FH2119765 About 8 yrs old.
Problem #1:
Soap door only opens sometimes. I have cleaned it, opened the door to make sure all parts are working and checked the little spring that opens the door when the clip is released. I haven't been able to find anything wrong. When you turn the dial by hand with the door open, you can actually hear the "click", then see the clip release the door and watch the door spring open. It will do this about 7 out of 10 times. The bottom rack is in the right way allowing room to open. However, when we run it - we almost never hear that click and thus, it almost never opens. I even cleaned all the hard water out of it inside and out. Is this a problem that people have to replace the assembly to fix, or could it be the actual timer dial? I'm confused why I can watch it do it turning it by hand but it doesn't always do it when it's running.
Problem #2:
Foam and Water sometimes leak out of bottom of door. We use almost no soap (1/4 to 1/3 suggested amount) even though we have very hard water. Checked the door seal and door latch - door closes firmly and gasket seals. Water really seems to leak out from bottom of door - kind of like the water goes behind the bottom inside of the door and out over the edge of the tub. The dishwasher was leveled, and like I said - It only does it once in a while. We use Cascade liquid and because of the soap dispenser only use the "always open soap holder" that you fill for the pots and pans cycle (which lasts a long time because this cycle heats the water with the "water heat" option - my wife does daycare and we can't turn our water heater up very high - but I haven't noticed time of cycle to be a factor in the leaking). I don't think it has ever leaked though if there hasn't been soap in it (we will ocasionally run it empty to flush it with some vineger). Any ideas?
Thanks
