I have a Whirlpool large capacity top load washer that has 3 setting dials (Water level, temp, and 1 other) and the cycle selection knob on the console. It will fill with water, but will not advance to the washing stage unless I do it manually.

It will continue to just fill with water unless I manually stop it. It will wash and drain and spin, just not automatically. I have to manually move the cycle knob to the next stage to get it to work. Do I need to get a new washer or is this repairable? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, :)

Fitz

Sounds like the water fill switch is bad. There is a tube connected to it that goes down to bottom of tub. Try taking the tube off of water level switch & blow down through it to make sure it is open. Re-install & try washer again. If it still won't stop filling & go into agitation cycle, switch needs replaced. Switch has to be satisfied washer is at set water level to send power to timer to advance & agitate. Dave
