I have a Whirlpool washer that is maybe 4 to 5 years old. Model number: LXR9245EZ1 Just yesterday it stopped working. When you pull the knob to start it, it just makes a clicking noise and smells of burning. Nothing moves. I think the Timer might be out. However, I wanted someone else's opinion before I order the part and attempt a repair. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Thanks.

If it sounds like motor is running but not doing any agitating or spinning I would suspect the coupler between motor & tranny. Take screw on each side of console in front corners out that go down through top. Flip console up & over back of washer. Take off clips on each side of top & un-plug lid switch.
Tilt whole shell towards you & remove. Remove clips on pump. Pull off pump. Remove screws on motor clips. Remove clips. Unplug motor & remove. Half of coupler is on motor, other half on tranny. Rubber bushing in between. Either ears are broke off coupler or rubber bushing is rounded out. Part # of coupler is 285852. Dave
