ok i have a c-fan that works a remote any time the light is on for too long about an hour or so i can not turn it off. i have to run down to the breakers and shut the power off wait about 20 mins then turn the break on and every thing works just fine.. my thinking on this is that the fan heats up too much from the bulbs and the remote then does not work.
my question is this. can i change the fan over so it works by a switch?

In almost all fans, the remote receiver is located up at the ceiling under the bell housing. It is possible to remove it and connect the fan directly the the ceiling wires, and if the ceiling wires are already controlled by a wall switch, then your fan will be. Be sure to shut off the circuit breaker before proceeding. However, since you said that you have to turn it off at the breaker box, it sounds like there are no wall switches in this room. It is generally feasible to add a switch if there is an accessible attic above this room

Also, make sure that you are staying within the maximum wattage limit for the fan's light bulbs.

I've never heard of your particular failure mode. You might call the fan's manufacturer for advice.

It would probably be easier to purchase a new remote unit. They sell for about $40 at most home centers. Or maybe just a whole new fan.
