I'm trying to replace an old Schlage Deadbolt, but there aren't any screws to unscrew. There are just 2 circles where you would find screws on other deadbolts. Its basically like 2 flat pins. Perfectly circular. Nothing goes in them, not even an allen wrench. I have no idea on how to remove this. I've tried prying the outer circles (not sure of the correct term) of the lock bot inside and outside and I'm just damaging the door. Any help would be appreciated.

Here are some pic's of what http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/fredyfunk/side.jpg

Take an 1/8 drill and drill out the screws, that will let you pop off the face and continue. Good Luck

I agree with the method Peladu suggests seeing as you're planning to replace the deadbolt anyway.
But I'd use a 1/4" as it's less likely to break as you're drilling.

thanks, for the reply Peladu and WGW, I'll give that a try. Now I just need to go pick up some drill bits :) ....I'll let you know what happens.

Sorry fychang, I assumed you had a drill with bits available.
There is a way to remove your deadbolt without a drill.
Using a small flat blade screw driver, you should be able to get under the edge of the cover pins and pry them out of the hidden screw heads. Then you'll need a philips screw driver to take the screws out.

It's ok WGW, I've tried using a small flat blad screw driver to get under the edge of the cover pins but there really isn't enough of the cover pin to get a hold of to pry them out. I have a drill, but I just don't have any bits but I'll just go pick some up because the prying just doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Thanks for the info on the Schlage deadbolt. I drilled the holes with a 1/4 bit and it spun right off onto the bit!
