I was replacing one of my house outlets before, and when I powered back up (after finding the correct breaker, I mean) the security system started beeping. It was a trouble signal, and according to the Z900 manual (not the Z910) the trouble code says it's either the fuses or the battery. The transformer is fine, the fuses are fine, but the battery is at 10.9 V, which is low. My question is, is a brief power-down (less than a minute) enough to cause that sort of drain? And while I know it depends on the circuit, is 10.9 V enough to cause a low battery condition?

I'm only guessing when I assume that's what it is, by the way.

If the battery is past it's prime (more than about 5 years old), then yes, it's been living on borrowed time, and the strain of trying to support the system was the nail in the coffin. The low battery detection threshold of most 12v systems is in the 11-11.5 volt range.

OK.....I've been in the house less than a year, so the age of the battery isn't something I know of. Regardless, I'll get a new battery. I was able to get rid of the trouble condition last night - I don't remember exactly what I did, but it may have involved holding 3 or holding 7. (It would fall into the category of "fiddling with it.") I didn't lose any settings, though - I do know that.

As far as the fuses go, they seem to be Buss 2.5A 250V fuses. They weren't available at any automotive stores, and most of the Radio Shack stores around here seem to be getting away from electronics parts. Are there good places to get these types of fuses, or must they be ordered?

This is a system that's been out of production for pushing 10 years, so unless the battery has been replaced, it's probably pretty old.

If you go to the ADT website, they still have the user manual available for a free download, but it's pretty much identical to the Z900. There are some programming differences, but they are generally minor.

10 years? Really? I didn't know it was that old. I have manuals that I got from another site that provide significant information on it and finally helped me to disable the dialer.

I purchased another battery today, but the existing battery seems more charged today (about 12.1 V as of last reading). It is a rechargeable battery, and it is definitely increased from yesterday. I hesitate to return the new battery just yet because I'm not sure I should trust a battery that drops that quickly after limited use.

Any advice on the fuses?

For the fuses, go ahead and check radio shack. They still have the components, but they are generally in drawers tucked in an odd corner of the store, somewhere. Other wise, check places that supply HVAC supplies. A lot of older heaters and AC units used similar fuses.
