New here, and have been reading some of the threads on installing carpet. Some very helpful posts--thanks a bunch. In the next month I will be replacing the carpet in a bathroom. It is about 5x8 or so. I seem to recall a thread that said unless you were laying carpet in a phone booth a power stretcher (hope that is right) would be need besides a knee kicker. This bathroom seems small, but would I be best off to rent a power stretcher or would a simple knee kicker do in this case? Thanks.

Joseph

It is all going to depend on the carpet, and how hot it is. Carpet gets like a dishrag when it gets above 80º. If you can warm the carpet somehow, and it is a thin base grade tufted carpet, you may be able to kick it.
