Hey everyone,

I have a small problem that began about 2 months ago.

The master bathroom sink produces a smell (rotten egg) when the water, hot or cold, is turned on. It is only apparent for about 10 seconds then it goes away. The sink is used daily, several times.

The smell usually occurs after it had been sitting there for some time without water running....like overnight.

Is there an obvious solution as to what this may be or any ideas on how to fix the problem?

Thank in advance, let me know if I can provide any more info.

-Chris

The smell may be coming from within the double wall of the sink. If you have an overflow hole in the sink, put the stopper in and place a cup of bleach in the sink. Then slowly (to prevent spashing) fill the sink with water and let it go out the overflow. This will allow the bleach to coat the inside of the sink and kill any bacteria that may be causing the smell. Good luck.

Great, I will give that a shot first.

I do not have a stopper in the sink.....on the to-do list :)

But I will get a temporary one.

Thanks!
