Both floors are using carpet now and the under floor is plywood. The entry way area gets dirty very quickly.
Though I'm not sure where and how the ceramic floor transit/connect to up and down stair carpet floor. And what material do you suggest?
Thank you!

You will need a tile backerboard or membrane over the plywood for a substrate for the tile, butt the tile up to the carpet that goes up,as for the down steps, they make edge treatments and trim for this, also depends on if the carpet is wrapped at the top of the tread, might be able to butt it there also.:)
