I have a new Kohler Devonshire® Rite-Temp™ pressure-balancing bath and shower faucet with lever handle and accompanying valves. When the bathtub is filling, water keeps spritzing out of the showerhead. I don't know what the problem is? Is it the valve or is the problem in the diverter. I don't know much about plumbing so any help would be appreciated so I can go back to the contractor and sound like I know what I'm talking about.

The diverter is what seperates flow from the spout to the showerhead. I would say this is the problem. It may not be seating properly and allowing the water to bypass to the showerhead. Good luck.

The valve delivers the water. The diverter tells the water where to go. I agree with the post above this one
