I'm finishing my basement and I want to add a 2nd doorbell chime in the bbasement so when someone rings the doorbell, it can be heard in the basement and in the main story of the house where the existing chime is located. What do I need to do this? I suspect I need a different (bigger) transformer in the basement that will handle 2 chimes for one doorbell button but I'm not sure.

If the transformer is in the basement, and if the cable running from the transformer has an extra unused wire, then this will be easy.
They also sell devices which can wirelessly extend one chime to another.
Wireless doorbells (where both chimes would be wireless) is yet another possibility.
