My daughter has a one square foot stain on her livingroom floor beneath where the Christmas tree was. I don't think it is a 'dye' from a fabric but more of a mold from the tree water. The carpet is made of a material that resembles jute/bamboo/sisal-I don't want to butt in or I'd ask.
It is a flat straw type floor covering. I think mold or mildew can be dangerous and they have a new baby so I'm trying to find a way to remove it. The color of the covering is tan and the stain is grayish mostly with a tiny bit of geen if you look just right.
Are there a couple of conservative methods to try to get rid of it?

Stain is likely discoloration from water. Natural plant fiber rugs are easily discolored by water and can not be cleaned with water-based cleaners.
