Hello! My mother just bought a ligthing fixture at a consignment store. The wires are not color coded though. We saw on a TV show that you can tell the difference because one has a ridge down it and the other is flat. But she did not write it down like I told her :) And now neither of us can remember which is which. Please help! Thank you.

The wire with the ridge connects to the white wire from the ceiling. The smooth wire conects to the black wire from the ceiling.
