Thanks again for your previous help, experts.
In prepping for my ceramic tile floor:
1) Plywood - do I leave spaces (like 1/4") between sheets as well as at the walls?
2) I've chosen Hardibacker; this gets spaced about 1/8" between sheets, am I right? Do I tape joints with fiberglass tape? Home Depot guy says the edges cut so smooth that he never tapes, just gets them very close and fills gaps with thinset. If this is true, what should the gap be exactly? I didn't want to heed this advice without getting other opinions.
Thanks in advance. Trying to get every detail right, I am

Yes, leave a small gap between all boards, ply and CBU, tape and thinset the CBU seams when tiling with backerboard tape and thinset.:)
