I installed a Harbor Breeze ceiling fan. Both the fan and the light are controlled by the wall switch, with separate pull chains for the light and fan. The light works and the fan/light combo works. The fan works with the light off, but it makes a buzzing noise. When I turn the light back on the buzzing noise goes away. Any suggestions?

Is the wall switch just a simple snap switch? It's not a dimmer switch, is it?

Did you spend more than $50 for the fan?

Yes, it was a dimmer switch. I replaced the switch and the buzzing is gone. Thanks!
