I will be updating my kitchen, mostly for re-sale in about 4 years max. Looking at B grade cabinets, I can get Schrock with the side panels upgraded to 3/8 plywood, or I can get Kraftmaid with an upgrade to 3/4 plywood ends with a 'furniture finish' (ends are flush with front frame) for about $100 more total. Does anyone know if Schrock quality vs. Kraftmaid is sufficient to offset the 3/8 vs. 3/4 difference. Or, am I making to big a deal between 3/4 plywood ends vs. 3/8 plywood ends?

Just curious.. with Kraftmade cabinets what are the choices in box construction? Do they do from particle board veneers, to plywood veneers to solid wood construction? Just depends on how much you want to spend?
One of my coworkers said she spent 7k on her kitchen cabinets but kept claiming it was 100% wood.. She insisted the boxes/shelves etc were 100% wood by KM.

Kraftmaid has three choices.
Standard - 1/2 Furn brd sides and back. 10% extra
Option 1 - 3/4 plywood sides with furn1ture end, furn. brd back. 15% extra.
Option 2 - 1/2 plywood sides and back. 15% extra.
With standard and option 2, you have to put skins on any exposed sides to give it the finished look. Option 1, you dont need skins. Schrock offers similiar options, but 3/8 is as thick as they go, and skins are required on all. I was thinking of going with the 3/4 Kraftmaid on all cabinets that have exposed sides, as they have a fery solid feel. There is no give or spongy feel when you push the sides like there is with the Schrock
