Air Conditioning - Help with a thermostat.. but am I posting in the right place?

I recently bought an older two story house and I'm thinking of redoing all the drywall (if your on the wall and ceiling forum you will see my post)

My questions for this forum is:

In my house I have two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs and the majority of the property downstairs, upstairs the A/C and the Heater work there magic up there quickly and then it gets a little out of hand.

What do I need to get to install a thermostat upstairs to help control that and will I need a new A/C&Heater unit?

I am not clear what you are trying to ask.

Do you have one or two system?

Are they up in the attic or basement?
