How can I determine what is the maximum number of light fixtures that can be on a new 15 Amp circuit?
Is it a fixed number?
Is it based on the fixtures? ie.
120V x 15A = 1800W
1800W / 100W fixtures = 18 fixtures ? (most likely will trip)
or
1800W - 360W Buffer = 1440W / 100W = 14 fixtures ?

Your analysis is all correct. I'd go with 14, assuming 100-watt fixtures.

In Canada limit is 12 outlets per 15 amp circuit. Light must be on 15 amp circuit.
