Hello,

I've recently bought a house with a very basic washroom in the basement. There is a one-peice fibreglass tub/shower that is built into the drywall, but not sealed at all. On the side opposite to the shower head, I can see that the shower wall is pressing up directly against the cement wall of my basement with nothing inbetween.

I am assuming this is bad. There is no mold, and my only guess is the tub has not really been used. I actually need a functional basement shower. Could someone please provide some insight as to what I should be doing between the shower and the basement wall?

thanks :)

I live in Texas and we dont see many houses with basements but when installing a shower or tub unit with suround walls wheather it be a one peice or wall sections the walls either go directly against the studs in the wall or some you have to put sheetrock on the wall first. I dont know what hapens over a period of time if you put a shower wall directly against bare concrete. You say you can see there is nothing between the shower walls and the basement walls so i'm assumming you have quite a gap there? What have you done since you posted this if any thing?
