We're hopeless and need your help!
While taking everything out of our kitchen to make way for new cabinets, it's painfully apparent we are an organizational nightmare. We have crap we haven't used in years. Over 30% of the wall cabinets are taken up with coffee mugs. (My wife collects them). It would be a shame to toss everything back in the new cabinets slipshod with no strategy.
Can anyone offer suggestions on written resources to put this kitchen back together properly? My wife (the packrat) will respond to experts.
If **I** suggest we don't need a gazillion coffee mugs, it will fall on deaf ears.... :-)
Thanks!

Would an offer to store some mugs in the attic and rotate the "stock" of mugs occasionally work?
Really, anything that has not been used in the last year should go to goodwill
I mean, anything short of "the good china that's been in the family for 100 years"

Great suggestion!
I'll run that buy her and see how it goes.
Err...There IS the possibility I could "accidentily" drop a large box full of mugs on the way to the attic.
Oh.. I'm evil..:-)

Go through the kitchen and discard anything you do not use, including food and spices. Items can be donated or sold at a yard sale. Pots and pans should be in cabinets near the stove. Nesting pots and pans inside each other takes up less space. Dishes and silverware are stored near the sink. Silverware trays are helpful for organizing drawers. Spices are stored near the stove and should be alphabetized. There are spice racks and revolving shelves available for organizing spices. Clear countertops of clutter to free up workspace. Avoid overstocking of grocery items. Collections of mugs or other items can not be appreciated if crammed into a cabinet. Perhaps some shelves on a bare wall can be used for display. Collection can be streamlined by keeping only those items of the most value (financial or sentimental).
