I am in the process of remodeling my bathroom and would like to get rid of the ugly teal tile on the walls. Can I just pull the tiles off and then use a sander to remove the excess??? There is drywall behind the tile, by the way.

I'm new to home improvement so I don't know what else to say. Thanks for your help!!!!

Removing tile is a nasty job that usually ends up with torn/damaged subsurface. If you have sheetrock under the tile - you can figure on holes/gouges in the remaining rock. If you have a good, solid CBU product - with judicious removal you may end up with nothing more than leftover thinset. If it is drywall - I would suggest that you will end up replacing it to provide a proper/smooth surface for your new tile. If the area is in the bath/shower enclosure - your best off replacing it with a CBU product anyways....

Ditto on what the Z man said.

Although, if you're careful, and the tiles aren't stuck too bad, you could
attempt to pry them off and re-attach a different tile.
You wouldn't be able to sand and then paint, it'd never be good for that.

Around the tub, you'd want to tear everything out and start with a fresh CBU, vapor barrier, etc.
