I would like to replace my exuisting bathroom ligh (located above the shower) with a ligh/vent fan - my question is does the vent fan have to be vented? If so - can it be vented/attached to the attic vent on the side of my house??

Thanks

Bathroom vent fans are not recommended to be installed "inside" the shower or bath ceiling. I may have misunderstood the location of your light. The fan is intended to have duct that exits the house through the roof or an outside wall. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I have an existing light inthe shower - where would I put a vent /fan in the bathroom to avoid future mositure problems?

The vent for the fan should be in the bathroom and not in the shower enclosure.

The fan cannot be vented into your attic space - it must be vented outside of the house.

If you really want to remove moisture, you will have to buy a good fan with a positive backdraft control. Normal "pretty", cheap fans are OK for odors, but really do not move must moisture unless you have a very short, straight vent pipe.

Bathroom vent fan/light combinations are available for inside the tub/shower enclosure. They are certified for such use. The vent should be ducted to the outside of the house and the circuitry should be GFCI protected.
