Electronic Alarms and Home Security Devices - CO2 and Smoke detector compatibility?

My house has all the smoke detectors wired together on one breaker. I have separate CO2 detectors plugged into outlets but I was thinking about adding some new ones to the same circuit as my smoke detectors. My hope is to have all the detectors going off regardless of whether it is a CO2 alarm or smoke alarm activation. If I got a basic smoke/CO2 detector designed to work with the basic 3 wire circuit, would they all be compatible? or could there be issues. Since I don't know what type of signal is sent on the red wire, I don't know if they would be compatible if they were all basic detectors. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

My current smoke detectors are BRK 86RAC.

Most of the manufacturers of hardwired smokes/co detectors will not warranty the interconnect unless all of the devices are of the same family. Your best bet is to note the models you are considering, and check the makers' websites. They generally have pretty good installation guidelines.
