What kind of saveings on my electric bill could I exspect between the top of the line 19 seer unit compaired to middle of the line 17 seer unit running 24/7 for 1 month? Just trying to see if the up front cost is worth it or not? Thanks!

Does anyone know the approx price diffrence between the two seer rateings? It seems to be a secret over the phone they say they need to come out and bid the job before they know what the units will cost.

What do you pay for electric per Kwh?
Heatpump, or just AC?
if just ac, how do you heat?
if gas, what do you pay for gas per therm?
And to tell you how much a unit wopuld cost I would have to come out and bid the job. too many unknowns to give you a price.
you might ask and get an approximate cost difference between the two models, but I can't garuntee that either.

It would pay for itself if you run your a/c or heat pump alot, if you are the kind of person that never opens the windows and would rather run the climate control, I would go ahead and spring for the higher seer unit(s) One thing to consider is that the high seer units might contain parts that cost more if they break , just something else to consider when buying an expensive item. Some states offer tax credits and some offer rebates on more efficent units.

In New England you get like $40 or $50 per ton by the electric company with a 10.5 seer and heat pumps get more I think and the higher the SEER the higher the rebate so it pays to inquire with your local electric company. Lennox makes a 21 or 23 SEER now I believe...can you imagine that???

If you presently have a 10 seer unit and go to a 14 Seer unit you should see about a 30% savings on your electric bill. The rebate at this time from your electric company would be $400.00. I hope this helped alittle.
